Great to be working with Theatr Clwyd again, and with the Guild of Misrule on their immersive production of THE GREAT GATSBY in Mold. They’ve arranged a great building to house the show – The Dolphin Inn, a rooming inn since the 16th Century. It’s a challenge to light using conventional fixtures, as while there’s pleasingly plenty of power there’s very little height above the performer’s heads. And the challenge of sourcing a ‘grand’ chandelier with a maximum depth of 60cm is taxing those available on eBay! But here’s a quick picture from the road that shows the realities of making site-specific work: we’re lucky to have the support of the owners and architects who are re-developing the Dolphin, and the building is currently a shell with no insulation or formal heating – so it’s pretty damn cold with the winter blast, and a forecast for next week of heavy snow!
